If the player is caught within the splash of their own Ray Gun blasts, their screen will shake as though being hit and they will be briefly slowed. It is common to only fire one ray at a time as opposed to holding the trigger.
To conserve the precious ammunition reserve of the Ray Gun, the weapon is often reserved for emergency use in dire situations. The Ray Gun's projectiles travel relatively slowly, so the player may need to anticipate the movement of zombies and aim slightly ahead to hit moving or distant zombies. Combined with fully-automatic fire, the Ray Gun becomes very effective at taking down large crowds of zombies, saturating the horde with blasts that deal splash damage to numerous targets at once. It also comes with a respectable ammunition capacity for such a high damage weapon. It is capable of killing zombies with a single blast to the head up to and including round 25. The weapon fires green projectiles that do splash damage on impact.
It can only be acquired from the Mystery Box. The Ray Gun is a Martian fully-automatic Wonder Weapon.
